River Right | Fly Casting Terminology

River Right

While fishing or boating on rivers, you may need to refer to a specific river bank. This is done by facing downstream—the river bank to the right is considered “river right”.

If you are facing the center of the river or stream and the general water flow is from your left to right, you are fishing “river right”.
